4 tips to accommodate your resume to the Australian standards

Getting a job in Australia is not an easy task, but it is not very difficult either. The important thing in this path that you are undertaking in another country, is that you understand that there are new ways to get by in the world of work and the best option is to apply them quickly so that the job search does not last long.

Today I want to tell you 4 tips that can be very useful for you to learn how to adapt your current curriculum to an Australian curriculum.

Unfortunately translating the curriculum from Spanish to English is not an option. When you do this we fall into typical mistakes such as having a very long resume, using diplomas, positions and functions that do not exist in Australia and therefore are not familiar to Australian companies and above all do not show your professional experience.

So when you are creating your resume for the Australian market, you have to consider the following:

1. You must pass the 6-second filter:
This filter is the most important, companies normally receive many resumes a day and spend a minimum time of 6 seconds to select whether or not that applicant caught their attention. This is when the format you use for your resume plays a big role, depending on your career and the amount of relevant information you put into it.

2. You must add in diplomas that exist in Australia:
If you are looking for a position in digital marketing, a great help is to put diplomas on marketing that are recognized in Australia. You should not put a literal translation of your diploma in English, but rather the equivalent diploma in Australia. So look for your diploma at Australian universities to understand equivalency.

3. You must put the names of positions and functions that exist here:
I invite you to do an investigation of the most appointed positions and duties in Australia that fit your career. Name them exactly as Australians do and not as the translator would.

4. Use the Australian curriculum format:
Australians use a short format focusing on skills rather than diplomas and mentioning the accomplishments of each role. Write to us and we will gladly help you choose the format and information that is relevant to your career.
